What’s Goin’ On/One Night Band!

Hey!

It’s Brian here.

We’ve been super busy lately gearing up for more shows and new (very different but awesome) tunes for you.

We have some GREAT shows lined up for the fall. There’s one actually next week (August, 26th) at Middle East Upstairs in Cambridge – a showcase by one of my favorite music blogs, Ryan’s Smashing Life.

You should come.

This weekend is the 2nd annual One Night Band sponsored by Boston Band Crush and it’s a really interesting event for charity and will sure to be random and wacky all at once. It even got a write up in the Boston Globe (with a lil’ picture of me at the top!).

Also, I was in a VERY cool video with one of my favorite songwriters  Bleu for his song “B.O.S.T.O.N.” which you’ll have to check out when it’s out and about.

They dudes from Rooney are in it too. I love their first two albums!

We’ve been getting some amazing press/reviews and lots of love from our fans who have bought our debut record and we even sold out of our first printing in our first month. Pretty awesome thanks to you!! Please spread the word though as we really want to play in your city/town/cave/planet.

I’m already writing for album TWO and playing some of the new stuff at our shows (another reason to see us this fall – hint hint) and we’re trying to book some shows a little out of state but we’d love your suggestions on bands to play with and where to play…anyone??

I’m gonna try to post here more often since I actually know how to. So spread the word and keep listening!

Btw – what’s everyone’s favorite tracks on the album? Please don’t say the “silence between each song.

: )

Cold War Update: The Russians CD Release

Our good friends The Russians released their new record last night to jam packed crowd at The Lizard Lounge in Cambridge. Oranjuly’s frontman Brian King joined them on bass for several songs including an awesome cover of Squeeze’s Pulling Mussels From A Shell (short video below).  If you haven’t heard their tunes before head over to their website http://therussianembassy.com/ immediately to hear 3 songs and to start cyber-stalking them on Twitter and Facebook.

CD Release Party!!

FINALLY.

July 2nd at the Middle East Downstairs is our debut CD release, three years (!?!) in the making.
We booked an insanely awesome night of local music with some of our favorites around town.
Why is this bill so wonderful? Well, besides OUR debut record : )

- It’s The Everyday Visuals semi-farewell show (for a while as Chris Pappas and Joe Seiders are both moving to L.A.)
- The Luxury, and Spirit Kid are both truly incredible bands that need to be heard/seen NOW-ish if you haven’t yet (though that’s hard to believe as you should have already!)
-OUR RECORD!!!

Needless to say – we’re absolutely honored to have such an amazing bill.

And what’s special is that besides a limited run of the physical record (collector’s item perhaps??) anyone wearing ORANGE will get a FREE DOWNLOAD of the record.

Link to purchase tickets!

For everyone who lives out of state/the moon – we will have this thing on iTunes etc. as well.

We’re excited , a little bit nervous, but hope to see everyone we know and lots of new faces at the show.
JULY 2nd!

Lizard Lounge – Behind the music

We had an awesome time playing Lizard Lounge on Friday with Jim Boggia (who we found out was a fan of Diggnation when he mentioned backstage that Brian looks a bit like Alex Albrecht). This was also the first show where we tried eating nachos on stage in between singing harmonies. The end result was better than you’d expect, though not by much.

We’ll be taking a break from live shows for a bit while we work on finishing our album which is set to drop on July 2, 2010.  If you haven’t done so already download our free 4 song preview here.

MayFair Wrapup

We had a great time playing MayFair this weekend.  Big thanks to Robin and the rest of the folks at Harvard Square Business Association for giving us the chance to play, to Foundwaves.com for plugging our show and of course to everyone that came out to rock with us on that incredibly hot Sunday afternoon.

Videos from our acoustic set at The Armory

For those that were unable to make it out to The Armory last week we’ve got some bootleg videos of a special acoustic version of ‘I Could Break Your Heart‘ and our cover of a Beach Boys tune called ‘You’re So Go To Me‘.

MayFair Here We Come!

"A" marks the spot where we'll be rocking out on Sunday.

We’re really excited to announce that Oranjuly is headlining the Church St. stage at the 27th Annual Harvard MayFair this Sunday May 2nd at 5PM!

Seems like only yesterday we were walking around MayFair 2009 after a Sunday morning practice talking about how cool it would be to play Harvard Square some day just like Passion Pit, Bang Camaro, and the Peruvian flute bands. Greg wasn’t in the band yet and Lou was only on his third or fourth practice, but we dared to dream big. Now a year later that dream is ready to come true.

So come join us! It’s free, the festival is huge and there’s tons of fun stuff going on like funnel cakes and other tasty treats!!
